Today’s project is aimed for those who have video game players in theirs lives, and plan on giving the video game gift cards. They are around 5″ by 3 1/2″, and are a bit big for the standard gift card holder.
Two friendly snowmen are playing “Deck The Halls: The Game: on their console, and inside there is a pocket large enough to fit many of the gaming gift cards, such as, Blizzard Entertainment, League of Legends, Roblox, Minecraft and Steam. They will also accommodate the Visa and Mastercard gift cards, which are around the same size.
The two snowmen were made from the front and back of the Seasonal Chums snowman tag stamp. I stamped them in smoky slate, and used the smoky slate marker to draw a face on the back of the tag, to make it look like the front of another snowman. That way, they face each other and can engage in an exciting game of Deck The Halls.
The card was made from a 5 1/2″ by 12″ piece of card stock, scored with the long side up at 4 1/4″ and 8 1/2″. I punched a “finger slot” on the shorter end panel using the Pretty Label Punch. It was then folded, and the shorter panel glued using 1/8″ double-sided tape. You could also use a very thin line of liquid glue along the two edges of the pocket. Because the gift card is 5″ long, there is not enough room for the tear and tape, as it is just over 1/4″.
I used Carols of Christmas for the Deck The Halls stamp, then stamped “The Game” under it with the Labeler alphabet. Then it was cut out with the second largest layering square, and the corners rounded. It way layered onto a piece of either crumb cake or night of navy that was 2 7/8″ square. The mat layer is whisper white, and I embossed it with the softly falling embossing folder.
The game controllers were each made from a petal of the pansy punch. Or, you could just freehand one just as easily. Then I drew the Xbox controls onto each one to make it a bit more realistic, and stuck them to their mittens using a glue dot. The inside sentiment was from the Tags n Trimmings stamp set, and cut out with the layering ovals.
So, if there is a gamer in your life, they may enjoy this gamer gift card holder. I hope you enjoyed the project! Thanks for stopping by.
Until we meet again, may your days be blessed! ~Darby
