I have a really cute, but very sweet, gift project today. When you just want to say “Hi” or “Thank you” to a fellow crafter, it may just fill the bill.
It is a matchbook style holder, that houses a “spool” of ribbon. It goes together very quickly and easily, and is a nice way to send a “thanks” or “just thinking about you” to a fellow crafter or ribbon-phile.
These were made using the 2017-2019 In-colors of Tranquil Tide and Berry Burst. I used the corresponding Fresh Florals Designer Series Papers, and added the sentiment on Whisper White with the Label Me Pretty Stamp set and matching ink. After punching it out with the Pretty Label Punch, adorned with an enamel shape, and adhered to the front of the matchbook with dimensionals. Cute and quick. The “Thank You” is from the Eastern Beauty Stamp Set, as the one from the Label Me Pretty set also included “for caring”. Scroll down for video link and paper dimensions.
The “spool” was made from a 2 3/4″ by 3 3/4″ piece of Whisper White card stock. Place the piece in landscape position on the Envelope Punch Board. Punch with the corner at 1″ and 2 1/2″. Flip the card over by flipping the top toward you, so it is now at the bottom. Punch once again at 1″ and 2 1/2″. There will be two punches on each of the long sides. Take a scissor, and cut the section evenly between the two punches to make a “spool” shape. Wind a yard of the ribbon you wish to gift around the spool, and attach with a paper clip. If you have any retired bow clips or mini-paper clips leftover, this is a fun way to use them. Then, staple the bottom (bigger) end of the spool into the bottom of the matchbook, then cover with DSP.
The third one was made with the Naturally Eclectic DSP and Dapper Denim card stock.
- Card stock: 8 1/2″ by 3″, score long side at 1″, 5″ and 5 1/4″
- 2x DSP: 2 3/4″ by 3″, and 2 3/4″ by 3/4″
- Scrap Whisper White for sentiment
- Whisper White for Spool: 3 3/4″ by 2 3/4″
- Ribbon: 1 yard or 1 meter
- Enamel shapes: I used the hearts from the brights collection.
I hope you enjoyed this sweet little gift, and you give it a try.
And, until we meet again, I hope your days are blessed. ~Darby
