Happy Independence Day-America!

What a beautiful day to honor and celebrate all that we have here in America.  We have so many blessings, and because they were endowed to us by our Creator, no man, nor any government, can take them away.

So, let us celebrate our freedom, and praise God for His providence.

Here is a quick little treat box in honor of the day.  I know I am a bit late, but it will be here for next year, too.  Of course, you can always tweak the colors for other occasions, but here it is…

Independence Day Treat Box: 1″ by 1″ by 4″

The star end of the box flips up to reveal the gumballs inside.  This box holds 4 gumballs that are about 1″ diameter.  These are Dippin’ Dots gumballs that I found at Cracker Barrel.

Here is a picture tutorial for the project:

Whisper white card stock 3″ by 11″:  Score 11″ side at 1″, 2 1/2″, 5″, 6″ and 10″.  Score the 3″ side at 1″ on both sides.

Real red card stock, cut with the Swirly Scribble Thinlit die.

Dapper Denim Star:  The bigger one is the retired Star Punch, the smaller one is from the current Wood Crate Framelits die.

Whisper White card stock: 3/4″ by 3″, stamped in Dapper Denim with “Let’s Celebrate” from the Born to be Loved stamp set.

Whisper White thick baker’s twine, around 16″ (gives room to tie the bow)

Place fast fuse on outside of tabs

Make box bottom out of the 4″ segment.  Then place glue on inside, lower front flaps.

Glue flaps to sides of box.

View of bottom of box, top tabs are glued on other side

Then form the flip part of the lid over the box.

Take the swirly die cut, and glue it on the top, cut off excess.

Run sentiment through fingers to shape it, then use glue dots to hold it in place.  I used two, one at each spot where the banner touched the box.

Tie the baker’s twine just under flip-fold, then glue star at top of flap.

Fill with gumballs, or other treats, and place one at each table setting.

Until we meet again, I hope your days are blessed. ~Darby
